There is lot about this topic in websites and astrology software. In KP there is a different approach for this concept. I would like to present before the readers the rationale of KP about this wide spread “half knowledge”.

Rule:
If Mars/Kuja/Sevvai is posited is 1-2-4-7-8-12 houses counted from Asc/Moon/Venus then this Dosha will be incorporated. Among them Dosha is predominant with respect to Venus than Moon and Asc. Dosha from Moon is stronger than from the Asc and lastly from Asc.
Explanation:
There are numerous exemptions for this Dosha too. One can refer to KP Reader IV from page number 51-70 for more information about the rules and exemptions. They are right from the pen of Guruji Sri KSK and very much thought provoking. Questions posed by KSK in page.52 and 53 really need attention. I suggest readers to go through these pages for a clear comprehension.

The real purpose of considering only Mars might be his blunt and out bursting nature. Even though any planet can cause separation the mode of separation caused by Mars may be frightening and unbearable to anyone. He denotes arguments, accusations, violence, and man handling in extreme cases even homicide! These are the ways of execution only when Mars is causing separation between the couple.
In order to know how Mars indicates disturbance in marital life as per KP the following observations should be made:
- Whether the horoscope is indicating temporary separation, permanent separation or dissatisfied marital life by studying the sub lord of 7-11 houses. If the sublords of these houses are positive then there will not be any trouble even though Mars is placed in the aforementioned houses.
- Especially read the significations of Mars at his star and sub level. If Mars is indicating 2/7/11 houses at star level and 4/8/10 houses at sub-level then lack of affection and frequent quarrels between the couple can be predicted. Otherwise 2/7/11 houses at star level and 6/8/10/12 houses at sub level then alone separation after torture should be predicted. (8th is for disturbance but not for separation)

- Other planets can cause separation/bereavement/conflicts in the nature of Mars (between the couple) only when they are posited in the sub of Mars signifying 4/6/8/10/12 houses or the sub lord of the planet is in the star of Mars signifying these houses.
In astrology Dosha and yoga terms need clarity. If a planet is indicating undesirable results for the native then that planet is said to be “Dosha karaka” on the contrary if the planet is signifying desirable results then called as “yoga karaka planet”.

Therefore in only those horoscopes in which “Mars/Kuja/Sevvai is signifying 2/7/11 houses at star level and 4/6/8/10/12 houses at sub level alone can be considered as “Dosha Karaka” for marital life provided that the sub lords of 7-11 houses strictly indicating contrary results that affect the chemistry between couple.

Note: if Mars do not indicate 2/7/11 houses at stellar level then the signification of 4/6/8/10/12 houses at sub level may not cause marital problems because KSK said that the sub significations indicate the auspiciousness or otherwise of the stellar significations. If Mars is not indicating marriage related houses at star level then it is not related to marital life at all. Then it is futile to connect it with harming planet for marriage and marital life. There may be disturbances in other issues.
One more thing is that either Mars/its star lord should be the ruling planet of spouse! (Ruling planets are Asc star lord, Asc lord, Moon sign lord, Moon star lord and Day lord at the time of birth).

KSK utters that any planet can cause separation or problems if they get such significations. Targeting only Mars is like accusing the innocent. Planets are the clock hands of destiny. They only indicate the verdict given by that Almighty as per the previous karma of the native. So in spite of perceiving them as “fortune/misfortune givers” it’s better to understand them as “truth revealers”.
Conclusion:
Arrive at conclusion about Manglik/Kuja Dosh only after considering the significations of 7-11 houses and Mars at sub level. Merely deciphering Dosha on the basis of placement in a house/sign is far from truth. If time permits I will present practical case studies in line with the above principles. Long live KP!
