Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple

The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is one of the most holiest place in pathankot. The temple serves as a manifestation of Haridwar too. People who cannot do the last ritual of their dead family member can do the ash immersion in this temple too.

The shivlinga is made up of white marble and a yoni made up of copper. Lord Ganesha, Lord Hanuman, Lord Vishnu, Lord Brahma and Goddess Parvati idols are surrounded near the shivlinga.

An annual fair called as Mukesran Da Mela is organized on the day of Baisakhi festival in the month of April. Shivratri too is celebrated in a grand way. A bif celebration on the day and three day fair after it is organized.

History 

The temple is built by Pandavas at the time of their exile. There are several caves near the temple which are considered to be from the times of Mahabharata. They stayed there for six months and thus constructed these caves and Lord Shiva temple on the top hills to worship daily.

There are a lot of stairs when you return from the temple.

How to reach ?

The temple is located on shahpur kandi road near pathankot city. The caves near the temple come on the way to shahpur kandi road. If you want to travel by road, the temple is connected to Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh. The temple is 21 kilometers distant from pathankot city.

The Left bank of river falls in Punjab and the right bank of the river falls in Jammu and Kashmir.
